As part of 1111′s A-Z of Creatures. S is for Sugar glider. Native to Australia and PNG, these rascals want to get all in your sweet sweet honey. They’re nocturnal but will keep you up all day given the right mate, and I don’t mean as a friend. Their gliding ability comes from their loose skin which hangs from their hands to their feet allowing them to glide 50m (165 feet) or more. Despite having a similar appearance and habitat, flying squirrels are not closely related to the sugar glider.
